Individuals with rheumatoid arthritis , systemic lupus erythematosus or gout have increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared the general population. This relates to a combination traditional factors and disease-specific factors. Screening for CVD is important because contributes significant morbidity mortality. Management includes tight control activity reduce inflammation, but care minimize use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs prolonged courses high-dose corticosteroids. Traditional should be managed lifestyle interventions pharmacotherapy. The decision start antihypertensive lipid-lowering therapy based on individual risk.
